Teaching Shakespeare’s Plays Through Scholarship and Performance

Recognizing the continued significance of William Shakespeare’s plays to performance and study in K-12 classrooms, Theatre for A New Audience, a nonprofit theater and educational nonprofit, developed Teaching Shakespeare’s Plays Through Scholarship and Performance, a professional development program for K-12 educators. This NEH-funded, two-week summer program hosts 25 educators from around the country at the Polonsky Shakespeare Center in Brooklyn. Educators learn from leading Shakespeare scholars and theater practitioners and return to their classrooms with more innovative, dynamic pedagogical strategies for literary exploration and theatrical performance.
